Tehran didn't wait a day to claim Tuesday's election as its own victory.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's parliament, framed the Democratic sweep as a referendum on American strength itself:
This is the same Ghalibaf who, since the recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear and missile sites, has argued that ๐๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง'๐ฌ "๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐ง๐๐" collapsed in that war. Now he's reading a congressional election as proof he was right all along.
An adversary that just absorbed strikes on its own weapons program is treating a House and Senate flip as evidence that the United States has lost its nerve. That's not a Democratic talking point. That's a hostile regime grading our politics by how weak it thinks we've become.
Elections have consequences at home. They have an audience abroad too, and this one just told you exactly what Tehran heard.
