In the 60’s many schools switched to student RA’s instead and it has been a total disaster. Many schools like @Hillsdale still have house moms in the dorms and they’re some of the most beloved people on campus, but a lot of the big schools don’t now. The free market now seems to be trying to recreate part of the thing that everyone knew made tons of sense until very recently.
