Around 1750 BCE, a Babylonian worker needed roughly 42 hours of labor to afford 1,000 lumen-hours of sesame-oil light.. With modern LED lighting, the same quantity can cost only a fraction of a second of average labor in some estimates. This is proof of how technology can drive down the labor-time price of a good.
