Meta and several other social media companies have agreed to pay a total of $27 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Kentucky’s Breathitt County School District. The school district argued that platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube use features that keep young people hooked for long periods, contributing to mental health issues and increasing the need for student support services. >Meta will pay $9 million. >TikTok will pay $8 million. >Snap will pay $8 million. >YouTube will pay about $2.01 million and will also provide training programs for the district.
