Jericho High School in Nassau County, Long Island, New York, made national headlines in 2026 by naming 21 students as valedictorians for the graduating class, breaking the school’s previous record of 15. The school uses an unweighted grading system based on letter grades rather than decimal GPAs. Under this policy, any student who earns straight A+ grades in every class throughout all four years of high school qualifies as valedictorian. This year, an impressive 21 seniors achieved that perfect academic standard. These high-achieving students stood out not only for their grades but also for their well-rounded excellence. Many balanced rigorous coursework — including Advanced Placement Physics, AP Economics, and multivariable calculus — with extracurricular activities such as sports, music, and community service. One student co-founded Empower Her Health, a nonprofit initiative that provides free menstrual products and education, while others earned National Merit Scholar honors and excelled in athletics and the arts. This remarkable achievement highlights both the academic rigor at Jericho High School and the exceptional dedication of its Class of 2026.
