Audrey's getting tiresome.
Indo Pali inscriptions from Bagan, Burma, dated to 1248 CE & 1375 CE refer specifically to chilies as payment for construction of pagodas & donation to monasteries.
That's more than 200 years before Europeans ever saw the shores of the Americas.
