Yesterday’s first EJVM+ ceasefire monitoring mission in eastern DRC marks an important step from commitments on paper to pursuing peace on the ground. The United States welcomes this mission and the parties’ cooperation. Effective monitoring can build confidence, protect civilians, and help create the conditions for a durable peace across eastern DRC. We also thank MONUSCO personnel for the work they have done to make this mission a reality.
