this post had gotten some "meh" reactions from many people because they consider "trends" becoming uncool once they reach the marketing teams of hotshot startups and corpo companies. according to aura-nomics, the aura of a phenomena first increases and then rapidly decreases if there are excess reproductions over time. you can think of it as excess or overblown exposure. of course, there's a status element too and it's downstream of exposure. as more exposure happens, people you consider "less cooler" or "lower status" (for whatever reason) start to talk about the thing. the novelty also wears off and the phenomenon feels washed out (and timeline moves ahead to the next shiny thing by then). companies on X are usually late into this cycle compared to individuals followed by individuals and companies posting about it on linkedin (by that time it becomes cringe) here's a graph. there can be variations of course. i will probably post more aura-nomic lessons soon.
