A friend of mine accidentally proved the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis by learning Toki Pona.
She found that learning such a simple language actually negatively impacted her ability to form complex thoughts.
Of course, she didn't put it that way, she said "simple language bad think hard word hard speak hard no learn simple language mind death bad bad bad no good no good bad".
