Sigurd Microelectronics, a Taiwanese chip-testing company, says a subsidiary has agreed to buy a factory building and related equipment from CyberTAN for NT$2.19 billion to expand its advanced-testing operations.
The company plans to use the Hsinchu Science Park site to test AI ASICs and CoWoS-packaged chips, as well as silicon-photonics and high-speed optical-communications chips, Anue reports.
Sigurd estimates the site could add about 25% to its current testing capacity once volume production begins. The report does not specify a production start date for the acquired site.
