one of my favorite things about a product launch is that I get a lot of surface area for feedback (lots of new users). when I get on these calls I spend all my time asking about people's lives and things they like and don't like and spend almost 0 time talking about the product. aside from just enjoying getting to know people I find that this is also the most effective way to understand motivations and expectations on a deeper level. i don't need someone to tell me that buttons are busted, but it's really insightful to hear about how busy someone is, why they're busy, how they feel about it, what they do in their free time, etc etc etc. you just learn so much more about people and it just helps you to build much better technology.
