On Oct 14 (Beijing Time), the 77th ICID Executive Council in Marseille, France announced the 2026 World Heritage Irrigation Structures List. All four Chinese nominated projects made the list, including Huangsha Canal of Shangrao, Jiangxi. Built in the Tang Dynasty, Huangsha Canal has a 1,000-year history. The 8.86-km canal has 1 main channel, 24 weirs, 35 branch canals and 45 ponds. Its "long vines bearing melons" self-flowing system still irrigates over 10,000 mu of farmland and serves 22,000 locals.
