36 today. Learned a lot about myself this year. Struggled with prenatal depression terribly pregnant with my daughter. Moved to SF, opened our office downtown, had nothing in the world to be sad about and yet I was unable to get out of bed. I cried rocking my toddler to sleep because I didnt want to be there. Knew very little about mental health before this. As someone that gets up with a LFG attitude every day, I thought my life was falling apart. It turns out one of the most common causes of death of pregnant women is suicide. OB clinics have been focusing a lot more on prenatal care and most have a hotline to speak to someone immediately. Had no idea. Within weeks of giving birth, it was gone. Spending today baking with my kids, painting random pictures and watching my sons favorite movie (Jungle Book, 1967). Happy as ever, like it never happened. Check in on your pregnant and postpartum friends, we all need each other. Posting in case this helps even one person.
