I’m off to Chongqing, China! 🇨🇳 From a very young age I was fortunate enough to have magazine subscriptions to Car & Driver, Road & Track, & Motor Trend. When they would come in the mail it would be the absolute highlight of my day to read them all immediately cover to cover, over & over again till the next issues showed up. From Lamborghini to Tesla Model S & everything in between I was hooked. I never thought in a million years I’d be so lucky to be like the journalists I admired & get to experience a press review trip first hand myself. Dazu District in Chongqing has built a booming lotus industry that now generates around 430 million yuan (about 64 million U.S. dollars) annually from fresh-cut flower sales alone, providing a vital source of income for local farmers. To date, the district's lotus cultivation now spans more than 50,000 mu (about 3,333 hectares), with more than 1,000 varieties. During the harvest season, which runs from May to October, the district produces roughly 90 million stems of cut lotus flowers.
