🚜 DOZERS ON THE FIRELINE. Dozers clear brush, trees, and vegetation down to bare mineral soil, cutting a path that strips away the fuel a fire needs to keep moving. Crews were already working the Gann Fire when the Gelding Fire broke out nearby. Dozers were close and moved in fast. The fire was held to 3 acres. Every resource, including dozers, hand crews, engines, and aircraft, works efficiently in the first moments of a fire to keep it small. That's initial attack, and it's a key part of our mission to keep 95% of wildfires to 10 acres or less. #GeldingFire# #GannFire# #Dozers#

This is how fast it happens. While crews were responding to the Gann Fire, a new column of smoke appeared. Crews moved in quickly, bringing dozers, aircraft, and firefighters to the fire before it had a chance to grow. Dozers cut containment lines. Aircraft dropped retardant and water. Firefighters attacked from the ground. The Gelding Fire was stopped at 3 acres. For a videographer, getting to capture those first moments is rare. For firefighters, this is the everyday work of keeping wildfires small. #GeldingFire# #GannFire# #InitialAttack# @CALFIRETCU
