Effective immediately, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has LIFTED the Shelter-in-Place Order previously issued for the area within 1/3 of a mile from 7301 Highway 1, Moss Landing (Zone PAZ-1).

Shelter in Place Order Issued Due to Fire at Battery Plant Facility
SHELTER IN PLACE ORDER – BATTERY FACILITY FIRE
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has issued a SHELTER IN PLACE ORDER for the area within 1/3 of a mile from 7301 Highway 1 due to a fire at the battery energy storage facility.
Residents in the affected area should GO INDOORS IMMEDIATELY and remain inside until further notice.
• Close all windows and doors.
• Turn off heating, air conditioning, fans, and other systems that bring outside air indoors.
• Keep people and pets inside.
• Avoid the area and do not go outside to observe the fire or smoke.
• If you are driving in the affected area, leave the area if you can safely do so.
• Follow instructions from emergency personnel.
This Shelter in Place Order is being issued as a precaution due to smoke and potential hazardous materials associated with the fire.
Emergency personnel are actively responding and conditions are being monitored. Do not leave your shelter location until officials announce that the Shelter in Place Order has been lifted or provide additional instructions.

ORDEN DE REFUGIO EN EL LUGAR – INCENDIO EN INSTALACIÓN DE BATERÍAS
La Oficina del Alguacil del Condado de Monterey ha emitido una ORDEN DE REFUGIO EN EL LUGAR para el área dentro de un radio de 1/3 de milla de 7301 Highway 1, debido a un incendio en la instalación de almacenamiento de energía con baterías.
Los residentes en el área afectada deben ENTRAR INMEDIATAMENTE A UN LUGAR CERRADO y permanecer adentro hasta nuevo aviso.
• Cierre todas las ventanas y puertas.
• Apague la calefacción, el aire acondicionado, los ventiladores y cualquier otro sistema que introduzca aire del exterior.
• Mantenga a las personas y mascotas dentro.
• Evite el área y no salga para observar el incendio o el humo.
• Si conduce por el área afectada, salga del área si puede hacerlo de manera segura.
• Siga las instrucciones del personal de emergencia.

Cal OES hosted Cyber Dawn, an exercise that is bringing state and local responders together to test their capabilities, strengthen coordination, and find opportunities to improve the state’s response to cyber threats. The lessons learned during this exercise will help shape future training, procedures, and cyber response efforts across California.

Over the past few weeks, our firefighters have been hard at work responding to increased wildfire activity across California. As conditions remain dry, critical fire weather continues to challenge our state.
🚩 RED FLAG WARNINGS THIS WEEKEND: A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of Northern California starting this weekend due to gusty winds and low relative humidity—conditions that can cause fires to start easily and spread rapidly.
🚒In response to these weather events, CAL FIRE has actively:
• Increased staffing with additional crews across Northern California.
• Resources from Southern California are available to mobilize to Northern California when requested.
Avoid any activities that involve open flames, outdoor burning, or equipment that could throw sparks.
Be Ready: Review your evacuation plan and ensure your emergency supply kit is ready to go.
One less spark means one less wildfire. Stay safe, California.
