She sho*t her 11-month-old in the face and told cops it was “worth it” so dad could never have him. Madeline Veronique Daly, 36, pleaded guilty this week in Silver City, New Mexico, to first-degree m*rder in the Dec. 23, 2025, k*lling of Basil Stoner. Grant County deputies had tracked her to an RV off Highway 15 on a Wyoming kidnapping warrant after she snatched the baby during a custody fight with his father, Jake Stoner. While they waited on a warrant and tried to talk her out, she put a 9mm to the boy’s face and fired. She told investigators the thought in her head when she saw law enforcement walk up was “Jake can’t get Basil.” After the arrest she called it “worth it” if Basil’s father and his family never got him. The affidavit also records her saying she would do it again “just so to make sure that the (family) didn’t touch him.” Bodycam text on the local package says she admitted sh*ting the child and “not being fast enough to k*ll herself after that.” New Mexico has no de*th penalty. The plea sets her up for the state max, 30 years, which the DA’s office calls “life” there. Then Wyoming still wants her on the kidnapping charge. A child-abuse count was dropped in the deal. Judge Tom F. Stewart has not imposed the sentence yet. This is the opposite of a mother protecting a baby. It is a custody tantrum executed with a g*n while cops were in the yard. Remember Basil’s name when the next account starts raising cash and calling her a victim. #NewMexico# #Wyoming#
