Citi reiterated its Buy rating and $800 price target on $META, calling it one of the firm’s Top Picks across the internet sector ahead of Meta Connect on Sept. 23-24. Citi expects updates around Meta’s AI product strategy, including Muse, whose app downloads have recently exceeded Instagram and Facebook on several days, and a potential launch of Meta’s next foundation model, internally codenamed “Watermelon.” Citi says newer AI products should drive higher engagement and monetization over time as Meta’s compute capacity expands into 2027.

BofA Reiterates Buy on $META, PT $810 Per reports, Meta could launch its consumer-focused AI agent, Hatch, in early September, running natively inside Instagram and WhatsApp. Hatch can reportedly browse Websites and navigate UIs to perform autonomous tasks such as purchases, restaurant bookings, form completion, and communications. Separately, Meta is reportedly targeting an October launch for its new AI model, code-named Watermelon, which prior reports suggest has achieved frontier-level performance on certain internal benchmarks. Hatch plans to integrate Watermelon’s automation capabilities post-launch. We think there is a significant long-term opportunity for consumer agent usage, with Meta’s large global user base providing a meaningful advantage in driving adoption. However, Hatch will need to be highly functional and differentiated versus OpenAI and Gemini. Key factors for adoption include: (1) ease of use, (2) product utility and ecosystem integration, (3) user trust around automated tasks and security, and (4) subscription pricing that provides strong consumer value while generating a return on Meta’s compute investment."
