SteamOS 3.8.6 Beta is now available. One of the most interesting changes is the addition of preliminary HDMI VRR support for devices with native HDMI output.
While it may seem like a small changelog entry, it is a good step forward for SteamOS and Linux gaming, Until now, HDMI VRR support on Linux has been more limited than on DisplayPort.
Valve describes the feature as “preliminary,” so limitations may remain.

Microsoft has launched Cloud-Initiated Driver Recovery (CIDR), a new feature that automatically rolls back faulty drivers delivered through Windows Update.
The system lets Microsoft remotely restore a previously stable driver version on affected PCs without user action or hardware manufacturer support.
It uses existing Windows Update infrastructure to quickly resolve issues from bad driver updates and reduce downtime.
The capability is currently in validation testing and will fully integrate with the Hardware Dev Center publishing process starting in September.

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) made their mark at the recent Australian Rover Challenge at 📍 Adelaide University, SA. 🤖
A triservice team of nine ADFA Trainee Officers and five civilian students from the University of New South Wales, Canberra, worked together as part of the Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) team, improving on last year’s efforts to place fourth overall this year.
The Australian Rover Challenge is an international semi-autonomous robotics competition, where teams design and build a rover under 60kg to be operated remotely in simulated lunar operations.
