🐉 Dragon Boat Festival & Zongzi: More Than Just a Rice Dumpling Today is the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival), one of China’s oldest traditional holidays, celebrated for over 2,000 years in memory of the poet Qu Yuan. The festival is famous for exciting dragon boat races, colorful traditions, and of course—Zongzi (粽子). 🥟 What is Zongzi? Zongzi is a traditional Chinese rice dumpling made from glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves and tied with string before being steamed or boiled. Fillings vary by region, including red bean paste, dates, pork belly, salted egg yolk, mushrooms, and more. 📸 As shown in these images, Zongzi comes in many shapes and wrapping styles across China—from the classic triangle zongzi and pyramid zongzi to square, pillow-shaped, bamboo-tube, and even butterfly-inspired designs. Each shape reflects local culture, craftsmanship, and culinary traditions. 🌿 A simple leaf, some rice, and centuries of history—Zongzi is not just food, but a delicious symbol of family, heritage, and celebration. #DragonBoatFestival# #DuanwuFestival# #Zongzi# #ChineseCulture# #TraditionalFood# #FoodCulture# #China# #RiceDumpling# #Festival# #CulturalHeritage# #AsianFood# #FoodHistory#
