United Microelectronics $UMC expects foundry price hikes in 2027 to be steeper and broader than in H2 2026 if current supply-demand trends continue, Economic Daily News reports. Powerchip (6770 TT) is reportedly considering increases of up to 40% on some foundry products as capacity tightens across both memory and logic. The company said it does not comment on market rumors, but customer demand is strong. AI infrastructure is driving demand for power management ICs, MCUs, sensors and MOSFETs, tightening 8-inch and 12-inch mature-node capacity. The report also says TSMC $TSM is pulling back from parts of the mature-node market, with spillover orders going to UMC, Powerchip and Vanguard International Semiconductor (5347 TT).
