"My business is making money but I feel like I'm poor." I had a call the other day with a guy who owns a DTC brand that's doing ~$100,000/month. On paper, profit is excellent. But despite this, he still feels like he's poor. In fact, he can't even pay himself a cent out of this business, because he needs to keep reinvesting cash back into inventory. E-commerce businesses are awesome, because the TAM is usually huge. They can be sold for large amounts (like Grüns, for $1.2B). And when you get them to a certain size, they pay you quite nicely. But cash flow is ALWAYS the bottleneck. In fact, some brands literally cannot grow beyond their certain size, not because they're not profitable, but because their expenses are lumpy and come in all at once. Your ads are working, you're making profit every single day. Yet you wake up and owe Meta $ 70k. Three days later you have to cut another $40k check for more inventory. On and on it goes. These big hits hurt. But... What if it didn't have to be this way? What if you could, instead, pay off the biggest bills in your e-commerce business in little chunks each day?
