7yo likes to tell me about contraptions he's dreamed up, and in the last week he came up with two things that I didn't think existed, but do: high-altitude solar-powered carbon fiber planes, and submarine safety features that use the conductivity of water to complete a circuit.
Christopher Nolan says a real 60 foot contraption was used for the Cyclops on the set of ‘THE ODYSSEY’.
“Everything about the Cyclops sequence is aimed at trying to imagine: what would this be like in real life?”

7yo is increasingly speaking flawless History Channel/YouTube Documentary Narrator when describing his contraptions. Today he was talking about an idea for a hard-to-hit submarine and said "That would make it hard for a torpedo to hit. The timing would have to be... impeccable."
Kissing Tester of 1965!
Should I build one in my garage?
Sell them with an AI analysis?
1965 newsreel featuring the Snogometer, a homemade contraption built by 16-year-old British inventor Malcolm Pickard in his parents' living room in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
The device measured the electrical resistance, or "voltage," generated between two people kissing, using wired electrodes held in each person's hand connected to a lit-up scale and sound effects.
Pickard reportedly spent just two pounds building the gadget out of curiosity, combining his interest in electronics with his interest in kissing girls, as he later joked in a BBC interview.
In the original footage, a teenage couple sets the lights flashing wildly, while an older couple's kiss actually blows out the bulb, allegedly leaving a "coppery taste" in the mouths of test subjects.
I say I build one in my garage and see if there is a product/market fit.
Blew out my birthday candles Rube Goldberg style this year! Thanks to my ingenious, fun-loving friends and family for this contraption and so much more. Onwards 🚀
JEFF BEZOS GIVING A TOUR OF AMAZON'S $AMZN FIRST OFFICE IN 1994
"We are in the nerve center. This is the first office of Inc. Over here, this is my desk. And that's the fax machine."
"See this big orange extension cord? This is one of the contraptions we have to have because there's not enough power in this room. So we have to bring in some extra circuit breakers. And that's about it."
Amazon is worth more than ~$2.7 trillion today. Bezos is at the White House state dinner for Xi Jinping on Thursday.
How the FUCK is this idiot even allowed on an expressway?
Motorcycles, tractors and other slow moving vehicles are banned on most expressways for obvious safety reasons.
But somehow this fucking clown is riding a homemade tricycle with a motorcycle engine at nearly 90 KM/H.
90 FUCKING KM/H.
And nobody is stopping him.
One mistake at that speed and this ridiculous contraption can become a death trap for everyone around it.
WHO THE FUCK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING THE RULES?
