GDP Now increases from 4.4 - 5.1%. Huge
GDP base year change is accompanied by methodology refinement / change. This time too changes were made mainly on IMF recommendations. This results in changes to nominal GDP estimates for the entire series. Every time. To justify his embarrassing error of comparing different series data, Mr Garg has now claimed nominal GDP doesn't change after rebasing, hence it's ok to do so.

GDN-2 scales nicely with Muon 🚀 We trained hybrid MoE models at three scales (2B-7B) with Muon. GDN-2 matches Mamba2's loss with ~10% less training compute!
GDP Q2 second revision 1.5%. Exp 1.5%
GDN-2 is fast, memory-efficient, and scalable. All you need to build a frontier hybrid LLM.
GDP was built for humans. Now you have robots, AI, energy and compute going vertical and the gauge just breaks. That's what @DMattin and I launched The Exponentialist to cover. You can subscribe for free today or take advantage of our founding tier pricing at $699/year. The lowest it will ever be. It goes to $899 on Monday.

GDP as we know it will be obsolete by 2030. I don't make calls like this lightly, but the way we've measured economies is about to stop working because the equation itself is changing. You've heard me talk about the magic formula. It comes down to how many people are working, what they're producing, and what they can borrow on top of that. That's the whole story of the economy right there. But look at what's coming into the equation. Humans are still a big chunk of it but now you've got robots, AI, energy density, and compute efficiency all piled on top. Each one is heading straight up the exponential curve and none of them fit inside the old measure. By the time you're reading GDP numbers in 2030, they'll be measuring the wrong economy. This is the Economic Singularity, and it’s coming sooner than most people are ready for. It isn't some far off sci-fi moment… It's something we'll live through inside the next five years.

GDP is a measure of how much an economy produces. It’s a flow, like annual income. You would want to compare GDP to an individuals income. Any individual is going to be a very small part of the economy’s income. Their net worth is what they’ve saved over the years. The fact that our policy makers don’t know the difference between stocks and flows should scare all of us
