Starlink V3 is a massive leap forward Each V3 satellite is designed to support: • 1 Tbps downlink • 160 Gbps uplink That is roughly: • 10x more downlink capacity than V2 • 22x more uplink capacity than V2 But the real magic is in the antennas and chips Starlink V3 supports 2,048 downlink and uplink beams, compared with just 192 downlink and 144 uplink beams on V2 Backhaul uplink supports 60 GHz of spectrum across frequencies and polarizations (4.3× more than V2) That means far more users can be served at the same time, with beams dynamically adapting to demand in both dense cities and remote regions SpaceX-developed beamformer and modem chips are doing the heavy lifting, with upgraded chips supporting around 64x more throughput per modem chip V3 technology will support future Starlink Mobile Gen 2 satellites, delivering terrestrial-like LTE speeds directly to unmodified smartphones This is Starlink becoming a planet-scale internet infrastructure layer

BREAKING: The FCC accepted SpaceX’s 100,000-satellite Starlink Gen3 application for filing. Each V3 satellite is designed for up to 1 Tbps downlink, 160 Gbps uplink and six 400 Gbps space lasers. Starship launches will add ~20× the capacity of Falcon 9 launches of V2 satellites.

Starship Flight 14 will deploy 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites into the constellation for the first time. Each V3 satellite is designed to provide: • 1 Tbps downlink capacity • 160 Gbps uplink capacity • Around 10× more downlink and 22× more uplink capacity than V2 • 2,048 downlink and 2,048 uplink beams • Six high-capacity 400 Gbps space lasers • 1.2 Tbps of RF backhaul capacity, more than 8× V2 • Approximately twice the solar power Together, these 26 satellites will add 26 Tbps of capacity to Starlink, around 10× the capacity added by one Falcon 9 launch of V2 Mini satellites. Future Starship launches will be capable of adding around 20× more capacity per mission than Falcon 9 launches with V2 satellites. Starship and Starlink V3 were built for each other. This combination will help Starlink serve millions more people with faster and more reliable internet worldwide. Flight 14 is targeting September 22, pending regulatory approval.

The Space Force concluded that SpaceX is currently the only provider capable of meeting its requirements. The total contract value and number of aircraft covered remain redacted.
