The next generation of KYC question is not just: Who is this? It is: Who or what is acting on behalf of a this person? That is a very different world. In the next phase of finance, a person may delegate authority to an agent. A company may allow an API to execute payments. A treasury workflow may move stablecoins automatically. A financial app may trigger actions across wallets, rails, and counterparties. This breaks the old assumption that financial action is always human-initiated. It also creates a new compliance problem. You can know the person and still not know whether the action was authorized. You can verify the wallet and still not know whether the agent exceeded its mandate. You can settle the payment and still not know whether the workflow was compliant. That is why identity has to evolve into agency. Verified Financial Agency means the actor is known, the authority is defined, the limits are enforced, and the action can be audited. This is not a niche AI problem. This is the next access-control problem in financial infrastructure.
