We can agree that Melissa shouldn’t be discriminated against for this.
The question is do you believe that Melissa should have access to:

If I hold a lesbian-only event, should I be compelled to admit Melissa?
If Melissa is placed in an inpatient psych facility, should he be on the women’s ward?
If Melissa goes to prison, should it be a female prison?
