From ₩20 million to ₩300 million, then back to nearly ₩0.
The Korean trader is not giving up as he plans to borrow again and return to the market once he has enough capital.
This reflects a broader problem in South Korea:
- Margin-loan balances hit a record ₩38.63 trillion on June 24, before falling to ₩34.37 trillion by July 15.
- Total investor borrowing, including other forms of debt, exceeded ₩60 trillion at the end of May.
- KOSPI more than doubled within six months, but later experienced several declines of more than 10%.
