FIFA Drops Plan to Sell Stakes in the World Cup
FIFA has abandoned its proposal to sell a minority stake in a new company that would manage the commercial rights to the FIFA World Cup and other tournaments.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the project was intended to unlock new commercial opportunities and increase funding for member associations. However, after strong opposition from several football confederations, including UEFA, FIFA decided not to move forward with the plan in order to preserve unity within the global game.
