What, for goodness sake, is our national airline Air Zimbabwe doing leasing an aircraft from a company Plus Ultra which has been subject to criminal investigations by the Spanish police? Spain’s National Police searched Plus Ultra’s Madrid headquarters on 11 December 2025 as part of a money-laundering investigation. Prosecutors are investigating whether funds linked to corruption involving Venezuela, including allegations relating to the CLAP food programme and gold transactions, were laundered through financial transactions involving Plus Ultra. These remain allegations under investigation, not proven facts. Nevertheless our national airline should never have contracted with such a company as it reflects badly on Air Zimbabwe and our Nation as a whole. Furthermore it raises serious questions about the state of the aircraft leased. We demand answers from Government.

That is absolute nonsense because to impute the failures of corrupt politicians who inherited colonial states, designed as extractive machines for the benefit of metropolitan capital, does not indict entire African civilisation. The opportunistic elite promoted into power as heirs of colonial government function exactly in the mode of their colonial predecessors, ruling the states they inherited. The real issue is the engineering and design of the post-colonial state, which has not demobilised from its colonial functions and objectives, still benefiting metropolitan elites through extraction infrastructures that black politicians continue to use today. There is nothing particularly African or black about that tendency; it falls purely within the psychology of colonialism itself. Decolonising the state, its structures, economic infrastructure, and underlying psychology is serious business and a real struggle. It is not reducible to the superficial observations of social media commentators, uncouth and swooning as they propagate racist tropes that are the wet dreams of white supremacists, who jump into such posts to voice their arrogance and found supremacist ideas upon them. In response, we must examine civilisational orders and how the sustainable, egalitarian societies of pre-colonial Africa exhibited none of the corruption and rot we see from so-called African leaders today. That reality should awaken us to the normative values and foundations that underpinned those societies. Fine, you can speak of the technological advancements of the countries that colonised us, but that is a different subject. Concerning our approach to sustainable management of the Earth and its resources, the scientific order and civilisation propagated by the West has driven the world rapidly toward unsustainability. The Earth itself is in peril, and humanity faces a dystopian future of extinction by AI and machines, relegated to mere appendages of them. If that is the endpoint of Western civilisation, how valuable, attractive, or superior is such an outcome, in the final analysis? We can debate that all day, especially when contrasted with sustainable, morally wholesome African civilisations that, while not as technologically advanced, were structured in harmony with nature, developed sustainably within the environment, and undergirded a collective humanity with philosophical, moral, and spiritual values that retained the human essence - Ubuntu! The Earth would not have been pillaged, nor would it face catastrophe as it does under the scientific industrial revolution and post-industrial phases instituted by Westerners. We would not be entering a crisis of humanity at the mercy of machines in an AI-dominated future with robotics portending a threat too ghastly to contemplate. If that is smart, you are free to celebrate that kind of smartness, but do not believe you are being smart in your analysis. It is very superficial and fails to grasp the reality of issues at hand. I invite you and others here to think more deeply rather than make glib statements that simply masturbate white supremacists to unwarranted orgasms.

The @_AfricanUnion makes us the laughing stock of the world when it issues a statement with Russia that : “8. The two sides call for strict adherence to international law and the UN Charter in its entirety as the bedrock of international relations to maintain peace, resolve disputes peacefully and uphold sovereign equality.” What part of international law has been respected by Russia’s invasion and attempted annexure of entire swathes of Ukraine? The African Union is doing all Africans a disservice by this ridiculous statement and its policy of studiously ignoring Russia’s grotesque acts in Ukraine.

Welfare departments are for parties that are properly organised and run. Such parties can mobilise budgets to take care of their own in hard times. Parties or “movements” that belong in one man’s briefcase are hardly responsive to the needs of cadres and have no capacity to sustain a welfare programme beyond photo ops and intermittent assistance in random cases By losing its institutional existence under Nelson Chamisa’s leadership, the opposition lost its capacity to do the obvious things that it’s been able to do as a membership organisation for the past quarter of a century. Having a popular, charismatic leader but with no party is like having a fiery evangelist but no church: nhasi mapindira mutende, mangwana pasi pemuti, and so on.
