The enshitification of blockchain: Enshitification is the process that we are all familiar with: A product starts off as great, then centralization and corporate pulls make it into a value extraction lemon to be squeezed, with Centralization as the core problem, and using Regulatory and business moats as tools. Sadly, to some extent this has started happenning within crypto. What started as an amazing Freedom tech, something that allows any two parties to transact in any manner with no trusted third party inetermediating, has too quickly devolved to something that most users access through centralized entities, leading to early enshitification. Examples: * Bitcoin is the true and first Freedom Money. But because of stubborness of the ecosystem and resistance to any change, instead of having open source coders leading to ever more Financial Freedom Innovation, it's now in the hands of the Biggest Fat Cats that it was supposed to disrupt and uppend. * Ethereum is the first Smart Contract platform and an important Freedom Technology. But because of Party-Allignment Over Merit, it's devolved into a political and stagnant place. To make things worse, centralized corpo chains and projects have been deemed alligned with the Ethereum vision, and have leaked value from the main focus to large corporations. Which means that this enshitification of blockchain is overall good news, as it leads people to examine where the future lies, what is the true and lasting value proposition of blockchain.
