Ordered an old Thinkpad laptop, Will be flashing linux on it, installing a few pieces of Bitcoin software and showing people via tutorial videos how to use it as an Air gapped signing device.
2017 taught us that miners alone don't dictate protocol changes.
2026 taught us that nodes alone don’t dictate what gets mined.
Bitcoin consensus is a Mexican standoff between developers, miners, node runners, and economic actors. Each can resist, none can unilaterally rule. Everyone tugs in their preferred direction, but ultimately has to convince enough of the others that moving with them is better than standing still or being left behind. Going rogue solo is always a sure fire way to fork yourself of the network.

Heads up: a proposed bitcoin hard fork called eCash is expected around late August 2026.
Shakepay won’t support eCash or related forked assets. Your bitcoin remains bitcoin.
Be careful with fake airdrops, phishing links, and “claim your coins” scams.
Things I plan to spend less time and energy on from here on out.
Discussing
Failed low support forks.
Unpopular and not happening tail emissions.
Unsubstantiated claims of unnecessary back room talks between pools.
These things are entertaining. But our energy feeds them.
This is fucked. I personally know people who bought a trezor immediately after the coldcard hack and are now affected by this.
Phishing mail might be the start, but look at France and the data breaches that have led to multiple $5 wrench attacks to see where this is going.
We have some difficult news to share. Unfortunately, one of our shipping providers has experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive order data. This affects new customers in the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal who received an order within the 90 days prior to August 8th, 2026.
The data exposed:
- Full names
- Shipping addresses
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
The incident affects 11,742 customers with full exposure (name, email, phone number, shipping address) and 1,947 customers with partial exposure (name, city, email). The breach is limited due to Trezor’s strict 90-day data storage policy (we were also able to negotiate the same terms with fulfillment partners, who follow the same policy).
All affected customers have been contacted separately by email.
Our systems and devices remain secure, but affected customers could experience an increase in phishing attempts.
NEVER enter your wallet backup on a website or share it with anyone, and only check for updates on official Trezor channels.
We are deeply sorry to the community and those affected.
We are investigating this situation and will post updates on our blog:
GM Roughnecks!
As many of you have noticed, our hashrate has dropped sharply over the past few hours.
We can’t share the full details right now, but it’s clear that dark forces are working against us.
We know our efforts threaten powerful figures and we’ve never deluded ourselves about that. We’ve painted a target on ourselves.
We aren't phased by this.
We’re working to restore mining on the stalled Bitcoin-SHA256 chain and will keep at it until the planned switch to BLAKE2b proof-of-work is ready.
More updates soon
The beauty with this narrative is that you're never wrong, It just hasn't happened yet!
You can go to your grave still thinking that this is just on the horizon.
To everyone celebrating BIP110's failure: Are you ready to uncap Bitcoin's supply limit?
Because that is what is coming. And there is nothing anyone can do to stop it, if the miners are on board.
