Dovie Eisner was born with a genetic neuromuscular disorder that left him wheelchair-bound and breathing through a tube. He spent his life fighting for the unborn, ripping apart the logic of assisted suicide, and becoming one of the most respected voices in New York's conservative intellectual circle. He passed away last week on Sept. 11 after slipping into a coma last year. He was a devil's advocate who could dismantle your argument, a man who ran up top-shelf bourbon tabs his friends were honored to cover, and a thinker who turned brutal suffering into humor and humanity at every turn.
