The @WSJ should have contacted me about Christians in Israel. I am one. Been coming here since 1973. Israel is ONLY country in region where Christian population has grown from 34K to almost 200K. @IsraelMFA just appointed a full Ambassador to the Christian world @GeorgeDeek . No other nation has done that. There are occasional but rare instances of thugs spitting at Christians in the Old City. It's repulsive & condemned by @IsraeliPM @IsraelPresident & @IsraelinUSA Happened recently at Armenian Church. @israelpolice arrested 6 ppl who did it. The perps didn't get away with it. Christians work, worship, & pray freely here. They serve in the @IDF as high-ranking officers. I go to church here every week w/o a problem. I visit with Palestinian Christians and Israeli Christians regularly. Occasional challenges? Sure. In NY, kippa-wearing Jews get spat on & viciously attacked. No one blames the entire US for behavior of a few criminals. I've been throughout the Middle East & know of no place where there is much religious diversity as there is in Israel. @Israel protects Christian Holy sites & Muslim Holy sites just as they do Jewish Holy sites. I hope @WSJ will do a bit more research in the future if they do a story about religious freedom in the Holy Land.
