An audit confirms code quality at a point in time. It does not monitor a live protocol, its dependencies, or what an attacker does between deployment and exploit. The new baseline is real-time monitoring across the full stack, automated workflows that do not rely on a human in the loop, and security treated as a 24/7 operational function, not a box checked during onboarding. Look at the top 100 protocols on DeFiLlama, virtually all of them run monitoring. The gap is everyone below that line.
