NEWS: The White House is weighing use of the Defense Production Act to expand U.S. oil refining capacity as the Iran conflict exposes vulnerabilities to global crude disruptions and price spikes, sources tell me.
The proposal came up at a recent meeting between Trump and nearly a dozen refiners, where officials sought ideas for using federal support to add capacity. No decisions have been made.
