Delimitation Bill in this session ?
As Parliament reconvenes, the numbers in both Houses will shape the fate of every major bill.
The majority required depends on the nature of the legislation. Ordinary bills need a simple majority, while constitutional amendments require a two-thirds majority of members present and voting.
The NDA enters this session from a position of strength. In the Rajya Sabha, it is within striking distance of the two-thirds mark.
In the Lok Sabha, it is comfortably above the simple majority but remains short of a two-thirds majority on its own.
In Parliament, numbers decide the fate of legislation.
