What an absolutely horrific story.
The parents of a 12 yr old boy with autism called emergency services for medical help for their son.
Calgary police arrived and slammed the boy's head on the pavement – cracking his skull with so much force it was audible to witnesses.
Alberta Serious Incident Response Team said criminal charges against the officer were reasonable. The Crown declined to pursue charges.
It is far too common of a story.
Medical crises should never have a solitary police response.
I hope that this child and his family will get the care and support that they need and that there will be justice and systemic change.
