New president Abelardo de la Espriella says he had a "very warm and enriching conversation" with Netanyahu, thanking him for the humanitarian aid and rescuers Israel sent during a recent disaster. His words: "Colombia and Israel, always friends and allies." Under Gustavo Petro, Colombia cut ties with Israel and backed South Africa's genocide case at the ICJ. De la Espriella took office August 7 and flipped the entire foreign policy. He's already recognized Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, second only to the U.S., and he's moving Colombia's embassy to Jerusalem.
