I am an optimist, but I also believe that AI companies should be accountable for what they release.  If we want a public that is welcoming to powerful technology, we need to earn their trust. Demonstrate safeguards, and take responsibility when things go wrong.  That doesn't mean we have to slow down. We can do both.

Movies - and storytelling more broadly - are among the most powerful tools we have to shape how we see the world, and how we imagine the future. That’s why it has always saddened me that, over the past few decades, Hollywood has produced a seemingly endless stream of dystopian narratives: technology is dangerous, humanity is flawed, capitalism is evil, and only a few exceptional heroes save us from ourselves. I deeply believe there is another story to tell. I believe in humanity. And I believe technology combined with capitalism is, overwhelmingly, a force for good. Of course, there will always be people who misuse technology. But they are the exception, not the rule. Throughout history, human ingenuity and technological progress have helped us live longer, healthier, safer and more prosperous lives - and I believe the most extraordinary chapters are still ahead of us. This is one of the many reasons I have always loved @StarTrek. Instead of portraying humanity and technology as adversaries, it imagined what becomes possible when they advance together. It showed us an optimistic future in which curiosity, science and technology allow humanity not just to survive, but to flourish - even beyond Earth. The stories we tell about the future matter. Because before we can build a better future, we need to be able to imagine one. And also on a spiritual level, I deeply believe that we create what we think and imagine. So positivity matters. Vlad Tenev made a provocative prediction on Moonshots: AI could lead to more lawyers and more software engineers. His reasoning is worth considering. Make it easier to start a business, and you can create more businesses that need help.

When AI and robots can do most of the work, who owns the machines? That question deserves as much attention as “Which jobs disappear?” I want a future where people participate in the wealth these technologies create. Having access to an extraordinary AI is powerful. Having a stake in the economy it builds is another level of empowerment.

If AI gave you back 2 hours a day, that's 730 hours a year. What would you do with them? Spend more time with your kids? Get healthy? Start the business you've been putting off? That's the conversation about the future of tech I want to have. What becomes possible when people get part of their lives back?

Let's be real, we are NOT going to 'uninvent' digital intelligence. Instead, we should focus on how to steer it. Better evals, harder red-teaming, stronger institutions, and more transparency. We should not 'stop everything' either.
