His elderly father, Youssef Ahmed Abbas, mother, Ibtisam Abbas, and stepmother, Amna Abbas, suffer from chronic conditions including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and rheumatoid arthritis, which severely limit their mobility and health. His nine-year-old niece Jana has an undiagnosed stomach illness that cannot be properly treated in Gaza and requires care abroad, while her mother Heba, who gave birth during the genocide under harsh conditions, continues to endure severe back pain from injuries sustained when their home was destroyed. Several young children in the family, including those of his brother Mahmoud (Youssef, Tala, and Dana), have contracted hepatitis C due to the poor living conditions. With no regular employment available, AbdelHamid occasionally earns money by cutting hair when possible and the family relies on a local soup kitchen for meals.
