The thing you have to understand about Karl Rove is that he and Dubyah both are honest-to-God open borders ideologues.
Their chief political goal was to bring as many blue collar Hispanic workers to America as possible. The Rove-led GOP told us it would make the GDP line go up, provide every elites an exploitable household labor class, and that all of these foreign nationals would be future GOP voters.
And yet, Hispanics continue to be a reliable Democrat vote and Republicans didn't make significant gains with them until Donald Trump ran on the complete opposite platform.

The story in Michigan last night is the same one we've been seeing all across the country: Socialists run for office saying that they are champions of the working class. And their winning coalitions consist of high income, highly educated people-- while being firmly rejected by the actual blue collar workers they claim to represent.
