Harry Mitchell devoted his life to public service, from educating generations of young Arizonans in the classroom to serving the people of Tempe in the Arizona Legislature and the Congress.
Throughout his career, he was a steadfast advocate for veterans, helping strengthen the 21st Century G.I. Bill and expanding educational opportunity for those who served our nation.
May it be a comfort to Harry’s children, Mark and Amy, his grandchildren, and all who loved him that so many across Arizona and our country mourn with them at this sad time.
Harry Mitchell, who served as the Mayor of Tempe in the late 70s to the early 90s and also represented Arizona in Congress, has died. News of Mitchell's death was announced by his son, Mark.
