I always wondered why the bus driver never let anyone sit in the very first seat.
Every morning, if someone tried, he’d politely say,
“Would you mind choosing another one?”
People thought he was just being difficult.
One rainy Tuesday, I finally asked him why.
He smiled for a second… then looked out the windshield.
“My daughter used to sit there every morning before school.”
She had passed away years ago after a long illness.
He said driving the same route was the only way he still felt close to her.
