Colombian born businessman Alex Saab, with close ties to Maduro pleads guilty.
Saab was originally charged in 2019, arrested in 2020, then pardoned by Biden in 2023.
Prosecutors kept pursuing a separate charge the narrow pardon didn't cover. The plea comes eight months after Maduro himself was captured in a January 2026 U.S. military raid and is now awaiting drug trial.
Saab allegedly skimmed millions from food contractors while ordinary Venezuelans faced shortages. Two different men who built their power around the same patronage network are now moving through the American legal system on two entirely different tracks.
