７月５日（日）、海上保安庁は、中国水路当局から「潮岬南等において宇宙ゴミ落下に伴う区域の設定を行う」との情報を受けた。内容を確認したところ、設定された区域の一部には、潮岬南の我が国の排他的経済水域が含まれていた。
また、国土交通省は、中国航空当局からの通報を受け、NOTAMを発出したところである。
７月６日（月）１１時３０分（日本時間）、在北京日本大使館は、中国国防部から、１．に関し、弾道ミサイルを発射するとの説明を受けた。これに対し、我が方からは、中国の軍事活動が活発化していることへの深刻な懸念を伝達した上で、中国による弾道ミサイルの発射訓練が、我が国上空を通過する等、我が国の安全を脅かすことがないよう再考を強く求めた。
以上を踏まえ、政府としては、関係省庁が連携しながら、我が国の空域及び海域の安全の確保に努めていくとともに、防衛省において警戒監視に万全を期すこととしている。
