We have a chance for our children to grow up and never know anyone who died from cancer. That is a real achievable goal in the next 25 years. There's plenty of data in biology and life sciences: Mayo Clinic has records on millions of patients. The UK Biobank has over a billion images from medical scans. For the first time, we have a tool that can analyze it all. Pancreatic cancer just had a huge breakthrough. The opportunity for discoveries like that has never been better. And it goes beyond cancer. Cancer is the #1# killer of middle-aged adults. Road accidents are the #1# killer of young people worldwide. AI-driven drug discovery will take on the first. Self-driving cars take on the second. Remove those two and you'd look back and say: that was a pretty good 20-year run of technology. Writing better code is cool, and there's a huge market for it. But when I think about what we're all doing this for - it's an outcome like this. Thanks to @MollySOShea for having me on.
