The Chinese Communist Party’s new regulations on entry and exit management officially took effect on September 15. According to sources within the system, government agencies, financial institutions, state-owned enterprises, hospitals, and schools have recently expanded the scope of passport screenings, with some organizations requiring employees to report whether they or their family members hold Chinese passports, foreign passports, or overseas residence permits. While passport oversight was previously focused primarily on positions handling classified information and officials of a certain rank, the scope has now been further expanded. In addition to concerns about the outflow of capital and technology, authorities are also worried about the leakage of internal information.
