Random AI thought of the day: Demand and productive output are typically the limiters on a company’s growth. On the demand side, you’ve either tapped your market or lack the product or marketing differentiation to capture more of your market. On productive output, you lack enough valuable units of work which is the result of the wrong people doing work, the right people doing the wrong work, or not enough of the right people period. Most businesses have a mix of all three. Now, think about the moment we’re in. One of the promises of AI is taking your valuable units of work exponential, but “valuable” is predicated on providing the right direction and context to agents, just as you would any human employee. So if you consider what businesses at enterprise scale can still grow like hockey stick startups, it’s those that enable the exponential and benefit from the exponential. To benefit from the exponential, you need to start by organizing your data & codifying your tribal knowledge. This is one of the remaining moats in business (bc it's basically the unfair advantages from a process/product perspective earned through time and expertise), but most companies have been hamstrung in unlocking that tribal knowledge to get leverage from AI because it wasn't organized properly. To enable the exponential, you need to provide the picks & shovels for helping companies build their internal ontology. This is already happening, but it's only the 2nd inning. And as companies get past the false start of performative AI to performance-focused AI, foundation-laying in the enterprise will accelerate.
