BREAKING: SpaceX will contribute up to $220 million to improve water and wastewater infrastructure across Brownsville and Cameron County, according to an official announcement from the City of Brownsville. The agreement includes: • $40 million placed in escrow upfront • Six quarterly payments of $30 million • Up to 8 million gallons of water per day through water reuse and wastewater reclamation • Up to 10 million gallons per day by expanding the Southmost Regional Water Authority plant • Funding restricted to approved projects and released as milestones are completed Together, these projects could add around 18 million gallons of water every day. SpaceX will receive no ownership stake in the water system, and the contribution is not a prepayment of utility bills. SpaceX isn’t just building rockets in South Texas.
